Moses and the Red Sea – God Makes a Way
Exodus 14 (NIV)
After hundreds of years of slavery in Egypt, God sent Moses to lead the Israelites out. Pharaoh finally let them go, but then changed his mind. He chased after them with his army of chariots and horsemen.
The Israelites reached the Red Sea. With mountains on both sides and the sea in front of them, they were trapped. They cried out to Moses, “Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us here to die?”
Moses told the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
Then God told Moses to raise his staff over the sea. A strong east wind blew all night, dividing the water so that the sea became dry land. The Israelites walked through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their left and right.
The Egyptians followed them into the sea. But God looked down and threw the army into confusion. Their chariot wheels jammed. Then Moses stretched out his hand again, and the waters returned. The entire Egyptian army drowned. Not one Israelite was lost.
Moral: When you see no way out, God can make a way. He fights for those who trust Him.
