Daniel in the Lion's Den – Faithful to the End

Daniel in the Lion's Den – Faithful to the End

Daniel 6 (NIV)

King Darius appointed Daniel as one of three administrators over the kingdom. Daniel was so trustworthy and faithful that the king planned to put him in charge of the whole kingdom. The other officials were jealous. They looked for a way to accuse Daniel but found nothing wrong.

They knew that Daniel prayed to God three times a day, every day. So they tricked the king into signing a law that for thirty days, no one could pray to anyone except the king. Anyone who disobeyed would be thrown into the den of lions.

Daniel went home, opened his windows toward Jerusalem, and prayed as he always did. The officials caught him and told the king. The king was devastated but had to follow the law. Daniel was thrown into the lion's den. The king said, β€œMay your God, whom you serve continually, rescue you!”

All night the king could not sleep. At dawn, he rushed to the den and cried out, β€œDaniel, has your God been able to rescue you?” Daniel answered, β€œMy God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions. I am unharmed.”

The king was overjoyed. He ordered Daniel lifted out, and there was not a scratch on him. Then the king threw the accusers and their families into the den, and the lions killed them immediately.

Moral: When you are faithful to God even in the face of danger, He will protect you. Never stop praying.
